  • Use Housing – Try over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen. Read the label and use the recommended dose for your age.
  • Honey pills are digested with a small amount of food in your stomach.
    Take these pills only when necessary and never use these pills for more than 10 days!

 

  • Eat cool and soft foods – Most brackets require warmth to smooth your teeth in orthodontics. Cold foods and beverages reduce the pressure on the teeth and temporarily relieve pain. Try to eat soft dishes, cookies, yogurt, ice cream or cooked potatoes. Avoid eating large pieces of food that will break the brackets and increase the length of your orthodontic treatment.
    Ice cream can also help to reduce the pain, but avoid ice cream that is very rigid.
  • If you have sensitive teeth or use a particular type of bracket, you may experience a different pain. Drinking hot liquids is better for some people with sensitive teeth.

  • Never use cold and hot liquids at a time that will damage your tooth enamel.

 

  • Avoid eating sticky foods – your teeth will improve over the next few days and by that time avoid eating raw vegetables and instead use soft meals such as soup, fish and white rice. Drink cooked vegetables and eat soft fruits and potatoes. Sticky foods and snacks, such as chewing gum or tofu, can easily damage the brackets and cause them to scald, and should not be consumed even if pain is lost.

  • After the initial pain disappears, you can eat hard foods in thin, very small cuts. Avoid chewing and biting hard foods that break the brackets, increase the length of the treatment.)

 

 

 

  • Use orthodontic toothpaste – Small pieces of food stuffed between the teeth always cause pain in the teeth.
